Last Chance: Beer Exhibit @ NY Historical Society

This weekend is your last chance to swing by the New York Historical Society (170 Central Park West) and check out the museum's Beer Here: Brewing New York’s History exhibit which closes on Sunday. Admission is pay-what-you-want on Fridays from 6PM-8PM.

The exhibit concludes with a beer hall featuring an assortment of local beers.

Free Rides: Prospect Park Carousel

Bring your kids by the Prospect Park carousel for free rides this afternoon. Anyone under 12 will be able to ride the century-old carousel from 12PM-6PM. For everyone else? It's just $2.00

Kelso Brewery Night At Brazen Head

Brooklyn's own Kelso Brewery will be featuring five of its beers on tap this evening at Brazen Head (228 Atlantic Avenue). There will be $4 pints from 6PM-8PM and $5 pints thereafter.

Metropolitan Opera Summer HD Festival

Over the weekend, the Metropolitan Opera kicked off its fourth annual Summer HD Festival which features free nightly screenings of its performances in the Lincoln Center Plaza.

Friday Night Fireworks At Coney Island

More music this weekend -- on Saturday at 2PM the 13th annual Blues BBQ takes place at Hudson River Park (Pier 54 @ West 14th Street). Blues bands from across the country will perform while New York City's top barbeque restaurants (like Dinosaur Bar B Que) serve up grub.

This Weekend: Afro-Punk Festival W/ Erykah Badu & Das Racist

The 8th annual Afro-Punk Festival takes place in Fort Greene's Commodore Barry Park this weekend. The free festival will feature performances by Erykah Badu, Gym Class Heroes, Janelle Monae, Das Racist, Skindred, Toro Y Moi, Reggie Watts, and more!

This year, 15 food trucks will also be on site as part of the Afro-Punk Beats and Bites Food Truck Festival.

Free Tix To Shakespeare In The Park: Into The Woods

The 50th anniversary season of Shakespeare In The Park winds down this week, as the final performance of Stephen Sondheim's Into The Woods takes place on Saturday.

Free tickets are distributed at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park daily at 1:00PM the day of the show (limit of two per person). You can also enter the Public Theater's online ticket lottery for your shot at landing seats.

Final "Summer Streets" Tomorrow

The final Summer Streets takes place this morning from 7AM - 1PM!

Park Avenue will once again be closed to motor vehicles from Central Park to the Brooklyn Bridge so bikers, pedestrians, dog walkers, and everyone else can enjoy a stroll along one of the city's busiest avenues.

The final Broadway In Bryant Park takes place this afternoon with performances from: Nice Work If You Can Get It, Avenue Q, Bring It On: The Musical, Rock of Ages, A Christmas Story.

The Thursday afternoon concert runs from 12:30PM to 1:30PM.

Saturday Night Live Ticket Lottery

Throughout the television season there are generally two ways to land tickets to a taping of Saturday Night Live: (a) sleep outside of 30 Rockefeller Plaza and grab a standby number at 7:00AM the morning of a taping, or (b) know somebody, who knows somebody, who knows somebody.

But did you know there's one other method that's worth a shot? NBC holds an annual lottery for free  tickets, in August only. To enter, simply send an email to snltickets@nbcuni.com with all your contact details and cross your fingers.

Home Brewing Contest at Union Hall In Park Slope

This evening at 7PM, Union Hall (702 Union Street) hosts one of its regular home brewing contests. Swing by and watch the competitors battle it out, as you have the chance to sample the brews for yourself and see if you agree with the judges. Four winners will be selected to move on to the finals later this year.

There will also be cheese provided by Stinky Bklyn, homemade beef jerky, and some extra special beers available for your drinking pleasure at the event. Bottoms up!
