To help kick off the week-long celebration for the Queensboro Bridge Centennial, the city will be putting on a spectacular fireworks show tonight starting around 9:00PM.

Launch site will be the southern tip of Roosevelt Island.

Excellent viewing from Long Island City (Gantry Park, Water Taxi Beach); Roosevelt Island, and the Manhattan Shoreline.

The Little Red Lighthouse Is Open This Afternoon

The Little Red Lighthouse, a small lighthouse located on the Hudson River, will be open from 1-4PM this afternoon meaning that you'll have the chance to climb to the top and enjoy one of city's most beautiful views. The lighthouse was made famous by the 1942 children's book The Little Red Lighthouse and The Great Gray Bridge.

The Little Red Lighthouse stands on a small point called Jeffrey’s Hook at the base of the eastern pier of the George Washington Bridge, which connects the Washington Heights neighborhood in Manhattan to Fort Lee, New Jersey. The shoreline north and south of the lighthouse makes up Fort Washington Park. Access to the lighthouse is either via a steep footpath leading down from the north side of the bridge or, somewhat more easily, via the riverside promenade leading south to Riverside Park and Riverbank State Park.

Green Day Performs Free Show For Good Moring America Tomorrow

I've never been huge fan of the Good Morning America summer concert series, but the show tomorrow is worth waking up at the crack of dawn for!

Green Day will kick things off with their first-ever morning television appearance. It will take place in Central Park at Rumsey Playfield (via the 69th street entrance on Fifth Avenue). People are encouraged to arrive by 6:00am when the park opens to the public.
